UPT: "Politehnica" University of Timisoara - Romania

The "Politehnica" University of Timisoara is one of the largest and best-known technical universities in Romania. In total, around 13500 students attend more than 90 full-time academic programs (engineering, Master of Science and Ph.D. level) organized in 10 faculties: Automation and Computers, Architecture, Industrial Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Hydrotechnical Engineering, Production Management, Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering (located at Hunedoara).
The university's research and scientific activity is based on the strategy of promoting multidisciplinary research, priority being given to new technologies. "Politehnica" has always valued the role of industry and commerce in preparing students for the workplace and has many links with industries, which influence the curriculum: Alcatel, Continental A.G., Motorola, Siemens, Zoppas, Solectron are some of the companies which are university partners in teaching and research activities in different scientific domains.
In the last decade, "Politehnica" has continuously extended and developed the relations with foreign partners through projects, programs and activities of learning and scientific research. Since 1991, when the PHARE-TEMPUS program became accessible to the Romanians, the "Politehnica" University of Timisoara has taken part at 34 projects (22 active projects).
