Pall Filtersytems GmbH Werk Schumacher Crailsheim (Pall) has been a manufacturer of porous sintered materials for filtering gases and liquids for more than 170 years. Since April 2002 Pall is part of Pall Corporation who is the global leader in the fields of filtration, separations and purification.
Hot gas filtration plays an important role in the Pall business. One of the most important products is a hot gas filter medium based on silicon carbide, named DIA-SCHUMALITH. Pall's DIA-SCHUMALITH is the most frequently applied hot gas filter medium in advanced power generation systems world-wide, such as coal and biomass gasification. Pall designs and constructs also hot gas filter units. The reference list of PALL includes more than 50 hot gas filter units, where PALL has either designed and built the hot gas filter unit, or provided the engineering and the filter elements or just provided the filter elements.
Research and development in hot gas filtration is carried out by Pall since the beginning of hot gas filtration application more than 20 years ago. Pall has experience in the development of ceramic hot gas filter elements as well as in process engineering and application technology.
Several research projects in the field of hot gas filtration were carried out in recent years with different national and international partners. The knowledge of manufacturing ceramic filter elements, of applying these elements and of designing hot gas filter units, incl. externals, internals, controlling etc. is a significant contribution to the project. Moreover, Pall has recently started activities to develop catalytic filter elements. The hot gas cleaning of the syngas can be improved by using special designed catalytic filter elements.
